ABOUT GOD: We believe that there is one true God, eternally existing and revealing himself throughout history as one God in three persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit – each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and characteristics of personhood. In the beginning, God created the world and everything in it out of nothing; and from that beginning, He has pursued a personal and eternal relationship with all people…his creatures.
Genesis 1, Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19
ABOUT SEPARATION FROM GOD: We believe that even though God created humans to live in a loving relationship with Him, sin entered the world through the first man and woman, and since then, our relationship with God has been severed and distorted… BUT we also believe that God did not abandon his sinful creatures to destruction and decay; rather He promised to restore this broken relationship through Jesus.
Genesis 3:17-24; Romans 3:21-26
ABOUT JESUS: We believe that God’s desire and our longing to be reunited with our Creator found their fulfillment in Jesus; born of a virgin, becoming God in the flesh. Jesus came to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the broken-hearted and set captives free from sin and death. Though he lived a perfect life, He was rejected by his own people, was crucified, buried and came back to life on the third day. His death and resurrection bring hope to all creation. Through Jesus, our sins can be forgiven. Through Jesus, and only through Jesus, God reconciles us to himself and restores our broken relationship.
Isaiah 61:1-2; Romans 5:1-11; II Corinthians 5: 17-18; Hebrews 4: 14-16
ABOUT SALVATION: We believe salvation (the forgiveness of sins) is a free gift that comes by God’s grace through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross to all who place their trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord, repent of personal sin, publically confess that faith and then are immersed in baptism.
Acts: 4:12; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 22:16
ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s presence in the world today and that He lives within all Christians as a gift from God to help them resist sin and to equip them with spiritual gifts for the purpose of building up God’s kingdom on earth.
Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:9-17
ABOUT THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and therefore is entirely accurate, complete and reliable. As the Word of God, the Bible reveals timeless truth about who God is, who we are, how we should live, the reality and consequences of sin, redemption from sin and our eternal destiny.
II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21
ABOUT THE CHURCH: We believe the church is the body of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere. We believe the church is called to engage the culture and to introduce the resurrected Christ, who lives in and through us, to a broken and hurting world. We believe that God works through the church to reconnect people with himself through Christ and bring them to maturity in Christ.
Matt. 5:13-16; Matt. 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47
ABOUT OUR ETERNAL DESTINY: We believe death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved, through Jesus Christ, inherit eternal life; the unsaved, without Christ, eternal separation from God.
Romans 8:10-11: Daniel 12:2; Hebrews 9:27-28
